Wishes from Chick-fil-A in Mentor

Mentor Chick-fil-A owner Glen Efford and his staff expressed their holiday wishes via The News-Herald’s Wishing Tree endeavor.

In addition to those mentioned on the video (embedded below), Efford wanted to send out a special holiday wish to Al and Pat Kostrab. Pat is an employee who is dealing with the serious illness of a relative. Efford’s hopes are for the family  to know that the Chick-fil-A staff is praying for them every day and that their thoughts are with them.

In regards to the store, Efford expressed his gratitude for the guests who have helped to make the year 2012 a good one.

“Christmas is a good time to reflect on these things, and we’re very grateful,” Efford said.

A wish for a van for special-needs grandsons

My wish is that our two special-needs grandsons would have a van with provision for two power wheelchairs and a power lift. The van would greatly reduce the stress, challenges and physical difficulty of transporting them to medical appointments and to other activities.

Students at Euclid schools share wishes

Some special visitors came to The News-Herald Wishing Tree open house today. Members of the Euclid Police Department escorted students from two Euclid schools to The News-Herald so they could decorate ornaments and hang their wishes on the Wishing Tree.

Next Wishing Tree open House is Monday

Did you miss today's open house? Don't worry; we have another one coming up Monday evening.

Plan to attend the open house — scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 17 — if you'd like to come in and create your own ornament, or record your wish on video. Bring the kids! The family-friendly event includes coffee, hot chocolate and cookies.

Wishing Tree (mostly) assembled

Staff Writer Jean Bonchak put together the Wishing Tree today. It's just waiting for your wishes! Also, it's waiting for a strand of lights to brighten the spot of the pre-lit tree that we can't seem to get to work. (My first wish may be for someone to create a better way to put together Christmas trees and Christmas lights!) Jean plans to add a tree skirt and some garland, and a strand of working lights.
